BetBanish is a Chrome extension that helps you avoid gambling websites by showing a warning popup when you visit them.

Data BetBanish handles

BetBanish processes website addresses, your site settings, and your optional personal reminder to provide its pause features. There are no analytics, accounts, or developer-operated servers. No user data is sent to the BetBanish developer.

Data stored on your device

Your site settings (which sites show a pause, and any custom sites you add) use Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API. Chrome may sync these settings through your Google account when Chrome sync is enabled. They are not sent to the BetBanish developer.

Your optional personal reminder is stored on this device using chrome.storage.local. BetBanish does not sync or transmit the reminder. It appears in the pause overlay on websites you choose to cover; that overlay is part of the webpage. Avoid including sensitive details. You can remove the reminder by saving an empty reminder in Settings.

Browsing activity

The extension checks website hostnames in your browser to decide whether to show a pause. The toolbar popup also reads the current tab's address to show coverage. When you choose to add a site, only its hostname is saved in your site settings, without the path or query. BetBanish does not record browsing history, pause counts, or choices to continue. A temporary dismissal flag is kept in the website's session storage for that tab.

Third-party services

The extension makes no network requests of its own. Chrome manages settings sync as described above. Support links open external websites only when you choose to follow them.
